Firstly, if you've made it this far, thank you for being curious enough to give this a chance. I'm Jordan Hazrati, and have spent the last few years dedicating my time to all things Human Factors and Human Performance. I currently work as a Human Factors Specialist, for an international airline, contributing to the management of risk,  and optimisation of operational and safety performance, having previously held a similar position in a low-cost carrier. In my spare time, I fly as a private pilot, enjoy trips to the theatre, and regularly train and workout to maintain a healthy state of physical performance.

I have an MSc in Human Factors in Aviation, which I graduated from with a Distinction overall and specifically for my thesis titled 'exploring the perception, purpose and potential impact of peer support programmes amongst cabin crew'. My MSc followed on from achievement of a BA (Hons) in Education with optional modules in various social sciences, and a Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills professional status, recognising me as a proficient and skilled educator.

I achieved Accredited Human Factors Specialist status with the European Association for Aviation Psychology, and am actively working towards achieving Chartership in my field. My current specialism is within aviation, however my interest in Human Performance was ignited long before that as a professional performing artist, where optimising and maintaining Human Performance was key to industry success.

The idea for this platform came to me one weekend. I've always written articles on a variety of topics for my own blog and other large corporations and find inspiration for Human Factors related pieces from a multitude of sources such as theory, popular culture and sport. When I explain to people in my life my job title, I'm occasionally met with either blank faces, confusion or (my favourite response) 'is that something in HR?'. Whilst quite amusing, I find it a shame that something such as Human Factors that influences every single person's performance in their every day lives, is not widely acknowledged, understood or promoted. It also breaks my heart a little bit when I read in a newspaper or media report that the allocation of root cause to an incident is 'human error'. As I'll explore through this platform, the allocation of human error to an incident is merely the start of the exploration. The 'what' if you like. It does little to explain the 'why'.

That's where Factoring the Human comes in.

I want to make conversations about Human Factors and the relatability to everyone accessible and available. Not something held purely for academics, or those with experience in the field. Whether you're a professional or an enthusiast, I want there to be at least an option to come here and explore something that may be of interest to you. I'm going to do this through a variety of means. Articles of course, but over time, podcasts, webinars, sharing of resources, discussion groups, networking, and who knows maybe one day, events. Through this, I hope that the value, transferability, and resonance of Human Factors can be understood and developed to really optimise our human performance throughout society.

It will take time - Rome wasn't built in a day! I'm also hoping that the vast network of incredible professionals that I know are pioneering this profession will come along on this journey, collaborate with me, and share their know-how.

I welcome your feedback at any point, and please do get in touch to say hello. In the meantime I'll leave you to embrace your human curiosity and enjoy what Factoring the Human has to offer.
